Dr. Jamie is a native Nevadan. She attended UNR for her Bachelor of Health Sciences in Health Ecology. Then she received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine in 2010. She continued to get her Manual Therapy Certification from the University of St. Augustine in 2012.

Since then, manual therapy and bodywork have been her passion. She is proficient in myofascial release, muscle energy technique, CranioSacral therapy, dry needling, strain/counter strain, and many other modalities. As a natural healer with a deep understanding of body mechanics, Dr. Jamie brings over 15 years of experience to Healing Hands Physical Therapy and Bodywork.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. She has two young boys and enjoys being active in the great outdoors of the Sierra Nevadas.

Dr. Varsha Rao

Varsha Rao is a dedicated and highly skilled physical therapist with a strong academic foundation and diverse professional experience. She earned her Bachelor’s in Physiotherapy from MGM School of Physiotherapy in Mumbai, India, in 2014, followed by a Master’s in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2017. Over the years, she has excelled in sub-acute, outpatient, and geriatric care settings, gaining extensive expertise in rehabilitating neuromuscular conditions, pre- and post-operative orthopedic cases, gait dysfunctions, and manual therapy techniques such as myofascial release, cupping, and muscle energy techniques. She is also certified in dry needling and the McKenzie approach.

Known for her compassionate care and patient-centered approach, Varsha is deeply committed to helping individuals regain mobility and improve their overall quality of life. Her focus on both physical recovery and holistic well-being, combined with her innovative techniques, ensures exceptional patient outcomes.

Outside of work, Varsha enjoys spending quality time with her husband, her golden retriever, and close friends, embracing a life filled with joy and connection.

Dr. Chen earned her degree from the University of East-West Medicine in Sunnyvale, California. She subsequently obtained her national certification in Oriental Medicine through the NCCAOM and is licensed in the state of Nevada as an Oriental Medical Doctor. 

Dr. Chen has practiced as an Oriental Medical Doctor (OMD), specializing in pain management and supporting patients with chronic health conditions. Her clinical experience includes work in California at the Medical Center of the University of East-West Medicine and in Nevada at the Health Center affiliated with Wongu University of Oriental Medicine. She also continues to expand her skills through ongoing training in Oriental medical techniques with physicians in Mainland China.

A native of Sichuan Province, China—an area distinguished for its rich heritage of oriental herbal traditions and recognized as the birthplace of Daoism—Dr. Chen began her professional career as an educator, teaching in both public and private schools in Chengdu.

Upon relocating to the United States, Dr. Chen served as a data analyst for the Barton Health System in South Lake Tahoe, California. During this period, her commitment to helping others deepened, ultimately guiding her decision to pursue a career in Oriental Medicine.

Her training in Traditional Chinese Medicine has fostered a profound respect for the healing properties found in nature. Drawing on her background in both Eastern and Western healthcare environments, Dr. Chen is dedicated to providing holistic care through modalities such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, moxibustion, guasha, cupping, and other therapeutic techniques aimed at enhancing her patients’ overall quality of life.

Dr. Chen values her dual roles as an educator and healthcare practitioner. Outside of her professional responsibilities, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, watching films, listening to music, and hiking. She also appreciates sharing afternoon tea with friends or relaxing in her backyard, where she finds peace in the natural fragrances of her herbal garden and the calming sounds of the outdoors.a life filled with joy and connectio
